Espwa Demen Mission
Our Beginning
Espwa Demen Mission was formed in 2020 by Nelson and Rachel, shortly after their marriage. The first year the mission sponsored 10 children for school, helped two special needs children receive care, and donated two wheelchairs to adults who became crippled from sickness.
In 2021 several Haitian individuals partnered with us and joined the mission team. Providing their time and talents freely, out of a desire to produce a lasting impact on their communities. From there everything began falling in line.
As God opened hearts we continued to grow our Haitian and American team and vision. We believe strongly that the most sustainable way for the ministry to function is through partnership with locals. From the very beginning until now every program has sprung up from a Haitian realizing the need of other Haitians in their circle.
The Future of Espwa Demen
Espwa Demen has recently begun operating under a board of committed Christians. And is in the process of obtaining 501c3 status. We are excited for these new steps and the greater opportunities that will come out of it.
Our hope for the future is to build a center in Chevri Haiti that will function as a primary school, clinic, and the hub for graduate skills programs. Additionally we desire to start up money raising ventures in Haiti to support our staff and their families, including a bakery and chicken hatchery.
Follow along to see how God is working, and be a part of the mission Espwa Demen is accomplishing in Central Haiti.
We are a holistic mission founded on the idea that all people everywhere deserve to know Christ and receive His love in a tangible way through His church (Christians). Our focus is on spreading Christ’s love throughout Centre Haiti. With the village of Chevri as our home base.
Espwa Demen means “tomorrow’s hope”. Awakening hope in the rising generation amidst ongoing hardship is our mission. Because we believe that a true and lasting change for Haiti starts from within. It starts with change in one child’s life, one family, one community, one province. And from there the nation might see a brighter tomorrow.
Through several avenues we desire to pour into Haiti’s youth and help foster strong faith, character, and skilled productivity for years to come. As well as give suffering families the tools they need to care for the physical and spiritual needs of their children and community.
