Medical Clinic
Imagine being sick and having no access to medical care.
Imagine watching your clubfoot baby grow up unable to walk when all that is lacking for him to have transformative surgery is a one month’s paycheck in the US.
Imagine going days without the simple nourishment that would help your body fight off disease.
Imagine watching your baby turn to bones and die in your arms as your milk dries up from malnourishment and you can’t afford to purchase formula.
Imagine death after death being blamed on “a fever” or “a stomach ache” without ever knowing what actually caused it because no medical testing was done.
Now Imagine…
A mobile medical clinic sets up in your area. Compassionate doctors asses your pain, exam your family, and treat your ailments. Without asking for a single dollar from you.
Imagine someone comes to your home village bringing with them a week of food provisions for your family of 4. They see you, they hear you, and then they make a plan to help you stand on your own two feet again.
Espwa Demen’s Past Medical Projects
In the past Espwa Demen was meeting medical needs throughout Mirebalais, Haiti. We had no building. No home base for setting up. We would simply hear of a need and try our best to meet it.
Through that model some of the projects we did were; donating three wheelchairs to the crippled, providing nutritional support for starving families, coordinating clinical checkups for malnourished infants, providing the funding for clubfoot surgeries, purchasing medicine and vitamins, caring for wounds, and providing transportation to doctor’s appointments.
Our Elderly Health Program
During the year, 2024 we held an elderly outreach program. Consist of a monthly nutritional grocery drop, frequent group hospital checkups, and providing vitamins and medicines according to each person’s need.
We were excited to help these precious people live out the rest of their days in good health and happiness. So many of them have been an inspiration in faith and have imparted so much wisdom to our younger generation. They have spent their lives caring for others, and we knew it was time someone cared for them.
(unfortunately the gang take over of Mirebalais has forced us to end this program)
Mobile Medical Clinic
After gangs invaded Mirebalias, Haiti in 2025 most of our network of families was scattered into the countryside. Many of them landing in Chevri. A little community without roads, electricity, a well, or a hospital. It became quite clear that ongoing medical help was needed.
As the community began to fall ill from the use of unfiltered water, no access to a latirine, and lack of nutrition, we knew we had to step in. We started up a distribution of food staples, tents, cleaning supplies, and a mobile medical clinic. During the first clinic more than 80 people were seen by volunteer doctors.
We are in the process of building a public latrine and digging a community well in Chevri. Our plan is continue the mobile medical clinic in that area until a permanent clinic can be build, with programs occurring every 4-6 months. This will help to assess the overall health of the community and treat illnesses before they come epidemics.
Become a Medical Partner
Feel called to care for the sick or elderly? Have medical knowledge and access to medicines? There are several ways you can get involved!
One of the greatest ways you can help is by becoming a monthly supporter of the medical fund. Every dollar goes a long way.
Another way you can assist financially is by giving a one time donation to the fund. Stay up to date with our specific medical needs by subscribing to our monthly email newsletter.
Can’t give financially right now? You can still get involved by donating materially. Have a wheelchair or walker you no longer use? How about some extra unopened vitamins, prenatals, NSAIDs, protein powder, antibiotics, skin creams, or baby formula? We are in constant need of these things. (Make a material donation here.)
Prayer and spreading the word. It goes without saying we could always use more!
But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the beaten man lay; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ ‘Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?’ The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
