From Haiti, with Love
There are moments in life that quietly change the way you see the world. My time living in Haiti was one of them. It reshaped my understanding of hope, resilience, community, and what it truly means to love beyond borders. This post is a simple attempt to put into words something that feels far bigger than words can express.
Haiti is a country that carries both immense beauty and deep struggle. Its history is rich, its culture vibrant, and its people extraordinary. Yet it is also a place that has endured layers of hardship — political instability, economic challenges, natural disasters, and systemic barriers that make daily life incredibly hard for so many. In the face of all this, what stands out most is not despair, but strength. Not defeat, but determination. Not silence, but song.
The Impact
Thank you to every person who has given their time, energy, resources, and heart to Espwa Demen Mission. Thank you for believing in possibility when circumstances are difficult. Thank you for choosing action over indifference. Thank you for showing up, again and again, for the children and families we serve in Haiti.
Espwa Demen means, “Hope for Tomorrow”. Hope is not an abstract concept. It is tangible. It looks like classrooms filled with laughter. It sounds like children practicing their reading out loud. It feels like a warm meal after a long day. It shows up as a steady hand on a shoulder, a patient teacher at the front of a room, a caregiver who refuses to give up on a child’s future.
What makes Espwa Demen Mission special is not just the programs it runs, but the spirit behind them. There is dignity woven into every effort. There is respect in every interaction. There is a deep understanding that true change does not come from “saving,” but from walking alongside. From listening. From empowering locals and letting them lead.
Thanks to All
To our Haitian volunteers: you are the heartbeat of this mission. Your work is not easy. It requires patience, creativity, resilience, risk, and an extraordinary amount of love. You show up every day for the people who depend on you, often while carrying your own burdens and challenges. You teach, you serve, you protect, you show kindness, confidence, and courage. You model what it means to persevere. You are shaping futures.
To our board of directors: beside you we feel a greater strength. Your prayers are felt. We appreciate your willingness to navigate the complexities of ministry in Haiti. Thank you for making hard decisions with compassion. Thank you for contributing to the ministry without reserve. Your commitment creates a foundation strong enough for real, sustainable impact.
To our donors and supporters: you may never meet the children and families whose lives you touch, but please know this — your generosity matters more than you can imagine. Each contribution becomes a school uniform, a notebook, a meal, a roof, a life saving surgery, a water well, or shoes for bare feet. Every single gift is noticed and appreciated, no matter how small.
Hope Grows
One of the most powerful lessons I have learned through founding Espwa Demen, is that hope is not loud. It doesn’t always arrive in dramatic moments. More often, it grows quietly. It grows in consistency. In routine. In relationships built over time. In small victories.
Hope grows when people choose to care.
Espwa Demen is proof that when Jesus brings people together, He does so across languages, cultures, and continents. And something extraordinary happens. Differences fade. Humanity rises. What remains is a shared belief that Jesus love is for everyone no matter who they are or where they have come from.
We Love You
Not only do we thank you, each of our partners and volunteers, but we love you with the love of Christ.
We love you for the courage it takes to keep going, sharing, and giving in uncertain times. We love you for the faith it takes to believe in a bright tomorrow. We love you for the unrelenting prayers that you have prayed for Haiti and Haitians. We love you for your hands that build, your voices that teach, and your hearts that refuse to harden.
Thank you, for being a light. Thank you for choosing hope. Thank you for reminding us that change is possible — not because the world is easy, but because people are willing to love anyway.
