Update From Haiti February 2025

Nelson is back from his 3 week mission trip in Haiti. Thankfully he was able to accomplish a lot! While there were a few things that didn't get done we are happy with the progress that was made. Here is a little overview;

  • Paying Scholarships for our 38 school students
  • Having our students write letters to their US sponsors
  • Donating a large amount of materials to the Chevery church build
  • Distributing food provisions to the elderly in our feeding program
  • Almost finishing building our first little rental house
  • Visiting with families in our mission network
  • Spending time with family and assisting with some of their unforeseen medical bills

Here are some pictures of the trip. There were so many great ones! I am happy to share a little bit of the beauty of Haiti and the Haitian people with you.

Prayer Points

Thankfully there were no moments of danger or run-ins with the gangs while Nelson and our volunteers were traveling around serving our ministry network. However, there continues to be news of horrible acts taking place in the capital, a mere hour away from our home base of operations. This requires a great deal of caution and keeps us from planning more than a day at a time. That being said, here are some specific things you can be praying for Espwa Demen and for Haiti.

  • For the gangs to loosen their grip on the ports and border so that the cost of food, fuel, building materials, and medical supplies can go down and so there will not be a shortage of these things.
  • For a presidential election to finally happen this year!
  • More US sponsors to get behind the kids in our scholarship program who are still waiting to be sponsored.
  • That our barrels shipped down in January arrive intact and soon to Haiti. (Unfortunately our students are still waiting for their 2024 Christmas presents).
  • For our partner church in Chevery, Haiti to be blessed with resources and safety and continue to see more converts.
  • Wisdom for Nelson and I as we seek to start a business in Haiti to provide for our living expenses when we spend time there (more on that coming soon!).
  • That the few ministry activities we left undone will be accomplished without setbacks by our Haitian volunteers in the coming month.
  • For airlines to choose to begin flying to Haiti again despite these months of cutting those routes (only one Haiti based airline is currently flying into Cap Haitien and the airport in the capital remains shut down).

You can contribute to the work that Espwa Demen is doing in Haiti here. We appreciate your prayers and support. God bless!
